I have the equivalent of doctoral degree's worth of experience in conflict with the Hungerford Law firm, who represented dishonest Beaverton school administrators in the several cases that I found myself involved in, shortly after asking that I be paid fairly for my work.
For several years, I watched lawyers from Hungerford (most of whom actually are Hungerfords) prolong and manipulate processes that enriched them with public money while depriving me of certain basic rights--not least, that of access to due process of law.
The Hungerford Law Firm conspired with a lawyer hired by the BSD-friendly union rep to play me out in several venues, even though the record showed I had recently asked to resign after voicing concerns that I had experienced unfair treatment by poorly-supervised administrators.
That's how I met the Hungerfords. Almost four years later, their law firm had been paid hundreds of thousands of education dollars before being replaced by an "in-house" attorney...(?). The TSPC director, a woman who must surely be invited to the Hungerford Christmas party, harassed me for 3 1/2 years to sign an array of confessions designed to conceal a lot of unethical conduct.
I have refused.
I was being manipulated by a conflict-of-interest civil suit improperly filed by my union lawyer even as the Hungerford firm, at this point no longer representing the BSD school board, held on to my settlement check and deceived a federal judge about it.
I admit I do not know much about the extent of the alcohol and drug-related problems "T. A." had. Having worked with a lot of teens for twenty-five years, I know do that change comes and that we educators are obliged to promote it. And I know from experience that Andrea Hungerford's firm will unabashedly and dishonestly demean and humiliate any citizen who is in the way of all those education dollars they bill for, and that skillful, mendacious lawyers can protect dishonest school administrators with secrecy deals to veil their own clandestine income. I feel certain that any flaws in young T. A.'s character have been magnified and publicized by professional character assassins and that he has been significantly damaged as a result his conflict with Forest Grove school personnel. No judge will ever unring that bell.
Someday, someone in leadership to whom we have entrusted the welfare of our public schools--someone of vision and courage--will look into the amount of money that is spent on law firms like the Hungerford's...and why that is EVER necessary. In my case, I had asked recently the BSD HR director (also attending the Hungerford Christmas party) to allow me to resign, but I had pissed off some powerful people and, instead of letting me walk away, my license was threatened and I was introduced to well-paid, politically-connected lawyers.
Droit du signeur.
I hope somebody in Forest Grove with respect for democratic values realizes that drug and alcohol problems are all over everyone's schools and this expensive debacle was unnecessary. I am speaking now from painfully-acquired experience: This problem grew because, despite the immeasurable suffering and shame to innocent family members, the costly distractions to school personnel and the unGodly expense to the taxpayers, one category of people has benefitted:
The lawyers.

Richard Sanders' failed oversight of OEA: Teachers as chattel--OEA lawyer's manipulation of BSD teacher for four years...

Oregon education oversight:
I was a contracted employee who was cheated out of equitable pay and a fair working enviroment. Attached is evidence of OEA lawyer misconduct. Tom Doyle is manipulating a 10-yr-dues-paying OEA member to conceal the illegal violation of an emploment contract because the member had reported inequities.
Doyle has never been held accountable. He and other dishonest lawyers enrich themsleves by secretly "passing trash" to conceal administrative blunders while unlawfully discrediting teachers who report matters of public concern. The teachers Doyle represents are reduced to state property who risk losing their licenses if they do not capitulate to the dysfunctional "status quo."
My mother was dying and I had been cheated out of $20K when I asked to resign.
Instead I was attacked by lawyers from both sides who were aided by friends in state gov't,
I am eager to have honest representation  in a legitimate hearing.
